The Green Committee and all of the pupils from 3rd to 6th Class did a tremendous job today bringing attention to road safety outside our school. The pupils on the senior side of the school made posters asking the passing traffic to slow down, stop at the pedestrian crossing and to please keep the children safe at our school.
We were delighted to welcome the Minister of Justice, Helen McEntee who came to support our campaign and the Garda Síochana who made their presence felt. We also had local councillors who came to lend us their support.
Many thanks to the school staff, Fr. Thomas, our Parents Association and the Board of Management for their support but most of all well done to the pupils who made their voices heard today. We hope that this much needed publicity will help us to make it safe again for our pupils and their families to walk and cycle to school again but mostly we hope we will all be able to cross the road safely.
