Vision

Scoil Cholmcille’s direction for the future is ambitious, challenging and ongoing. It is shaped by an informed awareness of current educational thinking and involves recurring reflection and debate among staff, parents, pupils and partners and analysis of where the school is at.

Scoil Cholmcille strives to secure the collective commitment to its vision of all staff, pupils, parents and the wider community. Leaders in management and at all levels motivate and inspire others to sustain and demonstrate this commitment to the school’s vision through their daily interactions. All staff focus on developing our pupils’ capacities as successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens. They develop these through providing high quality learning and teaching approaches and a variety of experiences both in-school and outside of school.

The vision is one that pupils not only behave well but learn with and support others. Pupils set demanding personal targets which they strive to achieve, are actively involved in the decision-making processes of the school and feel good about themselves and their school.

Scoil Cholmcille’s vision nurtures creativity among staff and young people. All members of the school community work together productively to improve learning within and outside of school. Both staff and pupils are encouraged to be innovative and to engage in original thinking and improvements through self-evaluation.

Our vision in Scoil Cholmcille stresses the importance of putting its values into action. Staff and young people act as responsible citizens, showing compassion and support for others and actively promote equity, fairness and justice in their dealings with others. Staff demonstrate through their actions that school improvement and raising standards of achievement are of paramount importance. They consistently promote and ensure equality of opportunity and access for all. All staff support consistent approaches across the school, which are supported by policies, systems and structures and which reflect the vision of the school. They consistently promote a collective commitment to the highest possible standards and success for all learners.
